Traditional & Original
Fiddle Tunes

TuneFolk offers a variety of traditional and original fiddle tunes -- lively jigs, rollling reels, stately marches and smooth waltzes (and maybe a song or two!). Drawing from Celtic, Southern Old-time, Early American, French-Canadian and international folk music, TuneFolk will set your feet -- and your heart -- a dancing!

We've picked, strummed and bowed our way through 30 years of music and dance in coffeehouses, churches, dance halls, barns, camps and homes, for private and community events. We've played in livingrooms, backyards, town parks, grange halls, country stores, barns (w/horses, cows and chickens!), stage, porch, living room, yard, store window, hay wagon, and the back of a pickup truck.

Why? We both grew up with music in our lives, and . . . well, we just enjoy playing together! And watching music we play affect people is a kick! If one person cracks a smile, dances a jig, or just moves a toe to the beat -- it's worth the moment. There's nothing like waching people react to live music; react to something we've just created. It gets into their feet, then works its way up to a smile.

From Duo to Band: We also play with local dance band, Tamarack, as well as The FireFlies Band, and the inter-generational family (sit-in) dance band, Tame Rutabaga. And then there's Gordon Creek with a more Celtic flavor. . .

(Gordon Creek - St Patrick's Day, Carney's 2009)

With the addition of other musicians on fiddle, flute, pennywhistle, bass, bodhran or banjo -- we can adjust to the needs of an event, or the whim of the mood -- as background music, or dance band.
